Secondhand score...

I'm so pleased with what I found at a charity shop in York the other day.

It's not just one handmade patchwork curtain...

But a whole pair!

The linings have to be removed as they are too far gone but the curtains are just grand, they just need a good wash.

I'm so excited by their discovery! I might try one at the kitchen window? Or I could piece them together and make a quilt? Or a door curtain for the hall? Or chop them up and make a skirt like Vix's? I love her skirt! But would I wear it? I'm not as brave as Vix. Ooh decisions, decisions...

And the best part was the price. They were £5!  As I paid the lady said, ''I only put them out this morning!''
And that is why I never walk past a charity shop! You never know what they'll have and the good stuff goes fast!

We had two exquisite and genuine Radley handbags donated to our shop the other day! I priced them high and they had both sold before I made it back upstairs. (When I say ''high'' someone still got an absolute bargain!)

Gotta love charity shops!

  1. Charity shops rock! Those curtains are gorgeous, what a find! I'd say patchwork skirt all the way, they go with anything and of course you'd look stunning in one. xxx

  2. They're fab, and a great price too! I have patchwork curtains in my kitchen - I made them from vintage sheets and they look right at home in my 70s throwback brown and orange kitchen!

  3. What a bargain!

It makes me a little sad seeing handmade things for in charity shops- someone has clearly spent hours of their life making something beautiful, and it's worth less than a tenner to everyone else.

But then I look at the mahoosive rainbow crocheted blanket I got in Oxfam for £2 and think "Yippeee!! Best bargain of my life". I guess the true value of handmade stuff is the (new) owner cherishing it; not the price :) xxx

    1. We get bagfulls of hand knitted jumpers in our chazzer and no one wants them. It's so sad because I think we have an army of little old ladies rustling them up and it would break their hearts if they knew! xxx

    1. It's absolutely gorgeous but I live in jeans and I'm not sure I would wear it! I don't want to go to all that effort and kill a curtain unless I'm sure...x

What an amazing find, I would piece them together to make a door curtain, especially for my French doors...lol. Or some fabulous patchwork trousers if you don't want to wear a skirt and then a fabulous bag out of the offcuts xx
