It's my bloggiversary!

Blogging for me, has been an entirely positive experience. I have found a supportive network of friends who have been very welcoming. A sisterhood. I love the community I have become part of. I have found some wonderful people through blogging… people who I have more in common with than many of my friends.

It has increased my productivity. I'm getting things done like never before. A kick up the arse. It's chanelled my creativity. It has also brought me new clients.

It never ceases to amaze me that people read this! To say a BIG thank you to my readers and fellow bloggers I'm having a giveaway. Here's the stash...

Firstly for the UK people:

My husband was given a box of OPI nail varnishes when he filmed an OPI lady at a show.

They aren't Alpine Snow...

 
Now you know my hands are like these...

...except with added paint and bitten nails but I stashed them away for a future giveaway. I believe they are worth squillions. There are 4 bottles in the box.

They are: Natural Nail Base Coat, Russian Navy Nail Lacquer (looks purple to me,) Barre my Soul Nail Lacquer (pale pink) and a bottle of Top Coat.

And this time, to be fair to my non UK readers there is another prize that I can post overseas. You won't get the nail polish,the tea towels or the crate, (some countries are funny about wooden products being imported) but you will get this very sweet vintage English marmalade pot.

And when I say 'vintage' I mean dating from 1873-1898 so actually 'antique'. I love these pots for holding paintbrushes. You can also use them as vases but you sometimes need to have a jam jar inside to hold the water as cracks and crazing means they aren't always water tight. Sorry to the UK folks but this prize is overseas only. (They are quite plentiful here though.)

In an English country garden...

It seems summer might have arrived at last. As a nation we are all heading into the garden. Now, I am no gardener but I am a prettifier so I'm going to share my garden with you. (Well, the pretty bits.) Bear with me as 'Painted Style' goes 'Country Living.'

An old eiderdown makes a comfy place to sit and tell the husband it's his turn to mow the lawn.

This topless table is a work in progress. I love the rust! It would have had a glass top but I'm thinking of something else...at the moment it's not all that practical.

And for my overseas readers, let me share my spot, under the apple tree where we take afternoon tea...

                                                           ...unless it's raining of course.

                                    I just knew that old crate would be useful for something.

 

Would you believe the patchwork seat pads were found in Primark? (Overseas readers, it's like Prada.)

The herb garden under the kitchen window and the rhubarb...

And if you're very quiet, you just might see the fairies at the bottom of the garden...

                         They also need a place to take afternoon tea. Or is that pot filled with wine?

A peaceful spot to catch up on blogland. Who knew fairies had laptops? Crazy paving: a B&Q mosaic tile.

Knick of Time Tuesday; Vintage Style Inspiration 

The finished chest of drawers! Finally...and a bedroom tour.

I actually finished this late on Friday night. On Saturday morning, the sun came up and it just wasn't working. I tried to be clever and paint it like I did the Gustavian wine table. It looked like a slab of concrete. It might have worked in the room if I'd been prepared to paint the wall white, repaint the mirror and the bed! It took me 10 years to get round to painting the bed so I did NOT want to go there!

Here's the 'FIRST FINISHED' shot...(it's just a close up as the room was in total disarray.)

I was NOT digging it. So despite saying it wouldn't be white, I went for an off white, that most everything else in the room is painted in. (Porcelain by Dulux Trade Paints) Doh! Why didn't I just do that in the first place?

Flea market vintage rug

It's not what I set out to do. But it's probably what I should have set out to do! It took me another whole day to do this. So the grey was 'Cosy grey' by Wilkinsons (a lovely colour!) and the top coat, 'Porcelain' by Dulux. Just  matt emulsion. Then waxed with Liberon Antique Pine to add protection and a teeny bit of warmth to the Porcelain.

I bought the French bed years ago when I bought my first house. The bedside table is an eBay score. (Needs painting.) Bedspread from a boot sale. I made the Union Jack cushion. Cross stitch cushion from eBay.

The lamp and shade were boot sale finds. I darkened the brass with tourmaline as I'm into tarnish.

Love my vintage religious pictures. This is the only one I have up...

Silly corner window. Car boot sale manneqin that I recovered with hessian.

Car boot sale silver plated tray. Same style as the mirror above it. The glass jars were collected from charity shops.

This little guy is next to the mirror. I had two but I smashed the other one.They were boot sale finds.

Mannequin fetish...

Just got this huge jewellery case from a charity shop the other day. I was just thinking the mirror looked messy draped in necklaces, and I had 4 jewellery boxes dotted around. I don't really wear jewellery and I sold my gold and my silver but I have some of my mums costume jewellery and some old family bits of worthless tat that I want to keep. Even my daughters teeth are in here! Everything fits as there are slide out drawers inside. I'm sure I will paint it but not yet. I need a break! The bears were from boot sales and they're married.

All finished off with a vintage lamp. (Original wiring!) The wall colour you see here is 'Hazelnut Cream' by Dulux Trade Paints. I love it. It was bought for the living room and was far too pink but it works in here.
If you're thinking there's not much male influence in here you'd be right. My husband has the master bedroom as he snores like a motorbike.
