Success at last...

No, not the lamp...yet. It is looking better though. I've ordered something from America which hopefully will mean I can embellish it. Watch this space. I have spent a great many hours online looking for direction!

But what I have finished is this marble topped table.

I removed the odd wooden phallus from the cross brace. What's all that about?!

I sugar soaped all the wood and filled the hole left by dismembering the cross brace.

I didn't prime as I wanted to see if the paint would all peel off. Well, it did a little.

This was just emulsion tester pots from my beloved Wilkinsons paint range and Antique pine wax by Liberon.

Bad Bobby strikes again...

Sorry if the photos are a little fuzzy. I really need to learn how to use the camera.

It's been a girls only weekend as my husband is in Manchester.
My daughter and I had some great plans including baking...

My effort...

And my daughters...

Hers were far nicer than mine which failed to rise for some reason.
This morning she's unwell so that and the rain put paid to the boot sale.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend! Back soon with that lamp makeover come hell or high water.

Don't forget the competition! Bahaha!

  1. Lovely makeover job although I'd have left the phallus to provide a talking point! Your hedgehog rolls look v. tasty as do your daughter's cakes. Looking forawrd to the lamp base reveal no.2, you ARE a perfectionist!

  2. table looks fab. Did you use more than one colour paint?

    1. It's a clue!
Thanks Teri! Yes there was a cream under the grey but not all over, just strategic points.

  3. Gorgeous table (minus the phallus)! The baking looks good, lovin' the homage to Twilight! Hope little 'un feels better soon. No chance of a boot sale here, it hasn't stopped raining since Friday. I'll need an ark at this rate! x

    1. Thanks Vix! She's much better already and she's bouncing off the walls as we haven't gone out today. xx

  4. That table looks absolutely amazing - I love it! What a total transformation. Rain (and laziness!) put paid to boot sale plans here, too. Fingers crossed for next weekend! x

    1. Thanks Caroline, I guess we've been a bit spoiled with the mild dry weather until now! x

  5. I love the table - I have the base of a singer sewing machine in my garden which I plan (at some point) finding a marble top for. The rolls look fantastic even if they were a little hard (possibly you overworked it a little or let it get cold - yeast hates cold) - hope your daughter feels better very soon x

    1. Thanks Sarah! Yes, it did say stick it somewhere warm to rise but there wasn't anywhere warm where I could balance two baking trays of hedgehogs! Still, if they look good... we don't have to actually eat them do we? xx

  6. Honestly, you're no fun, Emma Kate - fancy removing the phallus! Poor table, emasculated and sugar-soaped and painted and waxed. Rather like a wannabe boy band member (ha!) Speaking of which, is that your husband again? Boy band member, I mean, not emasculated. Oh dear, I'd better move swiftly on...
The Mrs T rolls look great even if they wouldn't have passed muster with Paul Hollywood. Good to know that C is feeling better now. Pah to the rain and no car boot, onwards and upwards with the lamp! xxxx

  7. Yes, it's meant to be a 'spot the Blue Steel' competition, but no one spotted it apart from you. I guess that makes you the winner! Well done Curtise! Email me your address again so I can send you a prize?
Honestly, he does not look like this now. I don't want you thinking I live with a boy band member. People come in and see the photos and their voices rise several octaves as they enquire who it is and then they squeal. A lot.

The rolls look cute ... hope your little one is on the mend now.
