What a difference it makes! The house is so much lighter and brighter. All the skirting still needs painting but that can wait... I was in a hurry to get the decorations up. I hope you're not all Christmassed out already because there are LOTS of pictures in this post!
Our tree complete with vintage red-head fairy...
Decorations galore...
Old and new...
...but mostly old!
From special friends...
and I think this is my favourite bauble this year...
along with the fairy my daughter 'made' in playgroup...
The stockings are up...
Obviously mine is the biggest!
I found a use for the vintage print tray and had more than enough vintage Christmas tat to fill it!
And made use of the old crate for bauble overspill...
Decorations continue up the stairs...
And in the hallway...
and lest we forget what it's all about...
But this one is going to make you all so jealous! My creative daughter was desperate for some card which I duly provided, and she came up with this!
And I'm yet to tackle the dining room...

How fab does your floor look now, well worth all the hard work wasnt it?! I love your decorations too and think the way of displaying the overspill is brilliant! And yes, the childrens handmade ones will always win me over everytime!
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to work on the handmade ones! I must provide better materials for more tastefull decoration making!
DeleteLove your vintage decs and your daughters, the holly filled ice skates are very striking and original.
ReplyDeleteNot that original if you read a bucket load of American blogs like I do! They all use skates and vintage sledges to decorate their porches but I don't have an open porch and people would nick it here!
DeleteThe floor looks amazing! And I love your bookcase/dresser, and the tree, and the printer crate full of Christmas tat, and the ice skates! I think I've died and gone to Christmas heaven... :) xx
ReplyDeleteCome and live with me because mu husband doesn't 'get' any of it! Haha!
DeleteYou must be so glad that its finished! It looks great - love the fireplace.

Thanks! That fireplace (stone) was a £30 ebay score! Seriously! I wrote asking if it was 'real' stone or just lookielikey stone and then couldn't wait for his reply so I bought it. Luckily it was real! Best ebay find ever!
DeleteHappy new floor! It looks gorgeous and that's the best use of ice skates ever! I've a 1960s pair in a box somewhere, I'm inspired! x
ReplyDeleteI have so far resisted the urge to roll around naked on it, but only just. Instead I'm barking orders at the family about slipper wearing and mopping up spills at the speed of light.
DeleteYour floor looks fabulous, well worth the wait. And the dresser is beautiful and I am loving the old decorations all be it some of them do freak me out a little with their little beady eyes and faces! lol.
ReplyDeleteThe old printers block and old crate is a brilliant way to display the spill over of decorations of which I have a few and was running out of ways to display them until now :) Are all the little cottages in the printers block wooden as they are simply amazing?
We also have a couple of handmade by our 3yr old decorations that are our favourites out of all our decorations and are going to get them to make a new decoration every year to add... must remember to give them good craft supplies to start with..lol
All looks fabulous and festive, Christmas is finally starting xx
Thanks Rebecca, yes they're all wooden. We have lots of them, some vintage and some modern. Constance makes a town on the windowsill every Christmas but I pinched a few houses as they fit nicely in my print tray! xx
ReplyDeleteHere's where you can get the cottages:

All I can say is WOW! Christmas have finally arrived in your house. I love everything! wooden decs, I will definitely be collecting those from now one. Your stocking is so kinky, love it! x
ReplyDeleteThanks Mary Grace! I made my saucy stocking years ago. x
DeleteHi Emma - love your treasure trove of vintage Christmas ornaments. I especially love your nativity set. I swear we had the exact same one when I was a child growing up in Toronto. Is your set old, passed down in the family or available still from somewhere? I hate the plastic ones I see now. Have a lovely Christmas with the family. Patty/BC
ReplyDeleteThere is an old set at my dads and my set was more modern but last year I upgraded the figures for vintage ones very similar to my dads found on ebay. You have a lovely Christmas too! x
DeleteYay for the new floor. What a brilliant use for the printer's tray. I've got one gathering dust because I just haven't got enough small trinkets to put in it (how ridiculous is that!). xx
ReplyDeleteI think it's more ridiculous to have oodles of tat so you can fill it effortlessly like me! Sad!
DeleteNew floor looks great. And although I'm not a great one for lots and lots of little ornaments, I absolutely LOVE the wooden box full of different little treasures, I'm secretly a bit jealous of it, actually - and would rather like one of my own!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Caroline! Keep your eyes peeled at the boot sales, that's where I got mine.x
DeleteHi! Sorry it's been a while. Nothing I like more than vintage baubles, love the box you've got them displayed in. I think I need a new printers tray too now, mine is full of earrings and lego men!
ReplyDeleteI'm really craving some ice-skates too now, yours look lovely. Thanks for linking up.
xx
Thank you for hosting Lakota! x
DeleteHello! Thought I'd visit a fellow TahDaher!!! Love your house, so beautiful- your tree reminds me of the one we had during my childhood I adored the old decorations!! Love the printtray ideas too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kezzie. I love Christmas for all the nostalgia. x

Woo hoo! Thank you Christie! x
DeleteOh! Lovely Christmas ornaments! I'm a fan of vintage ones too. This last Chrstimas I went to my mother's house and brought with me all the ornaments we had when I was a child, such memories...
ReplyDeleteAnother coincidence, I made a Christmas Printer Tray too and I find yours really lovely! I leave the link here.
