How to create an illusion for a photo shoot...

This is a good tip for staging things that you might want to sell on ebay. Because people WILL judge you on your carpet!

Take a good wall in your house. This is newly painted and panelled and as yet remains undinged. But oh dear, look at that ugly lino!

Luckily we have a loft full of off cuts of new carpet from my old house!

Oh look, now we're in a spacious luxuriously carpeted bedroom! Probably in Sweden. (Would be even better if I could crop out the bottom of the kitchen door!)
Shh! Don't tell anyone!

  1. I really need to stop being so lazy when "setting up" my photo shoots- I tend to take pictures wherever the stuff already is, and subsequently end up with cups of cold tea/boxes of tissues/random bits of paper in the background. New resolution for me, I think! x

    1. Well me too! But I started reading some European blogs where everything is beautifully staged with fresh flowers and they seem big on stunning photography and it got me thinking!
I have to admit, I was selling a vintage dress recently and popped into my daughters room where she has a full length mirror on her wardrobe door so I could get all the dress in the picture. Only when the dress was loaded on the selling site did I spy a little pair of dropped knickers in the corner of the picture! The shame! Nobody did buy my dress!

  2. Fabulous! I agree, the background and staging is important when selling an item. I struggle to find a wall that hasn't got fingerprints or pen marks on and then when I do, the light is usually bad!
